Due to a lot of friends asking us how to start watching Doctor Who since the show has such a long list of episodes to choose from, we created this handy top 5 list of our favorite episode recommendations for people who just aren’t up to watching it in order from 2005. Choose one that fits your personality, or check out the comments (and leave your own) for other recommendations. Then, go back and watch in order!

    Definitely agree with your top three – I might substitute Smith and Jones for Love and Monsters because it’s a lot less Absorbaloff-y. The Empty Child is a great recommendation – viewers starting there though will need to watch the following episode for the conclusion to that story though. πŸ™‚

  2. Yep, it’s a two parter! But hopefully people will get hooked enough to watch to the end. πŸ˜‰

    Love the new adjective: Absorbaloff-y. Smith and Jones is a great recommendation for people starting out! Especially if they want to start with Tennant, plus they don’t need to know backstory because it’s kind of explain-y. And in general 3rd season is a good place to start people. Added bonus: there’s an awful lot of running! We included “Love and Monsters” because that’s how I got my parents into the show– it’s more for people who are scared of sci-fi, and it tricks them, ’cause they go “aw how cute,” and then BAM! Doctor Who’d!
